Just got a copy of the new book, which will be published June 26. I think this might be the most gorgeous jacket I have ever had on any of my books, which is really saying something since my publisher has always done a beautiful job with jackets. Honestly, these photographs don’t do it justice because you cannot feel the embossed lettering etc. But what makes this book particularly special for me are the blurbs by three writers I admire greatly. Thank you, Salman Rushdie , Wiley Cash and Ben Fountain for your kind words. Your books have meant so much to me and my heart swells with gratitude at the thought of having your names on this book.
I felt the weight and presence of our ancestors as we educated Mitsubishi Bank and local community about the Human Rights violations, Man Camps, environment disasters, international violations their banks supports, but most important our Missing and murdered Indigenous women.
A heavy weight as if we where pleading for our very lives, the lives of our indigenous brothers and sister back home and nearby families and communities living close to these pipelines that have high environmental disasters is impacts on our communities.
Touring Asia is not a vacation, not a tour, it’s the very fight for our children’s and communities lives and just like in the front-lines, we are in this fight to protect the sacred, the water, our indigenous women and the unborn with our bodies, if necessary with my life.
Our host Mumi has cooked us “traditional Japanese food”, fish that has been fermented for a year as she has no fridge.
All of her food she makes can sit on the table all day without spoiling. My taste palette has adapted to the different flavors. It took a few days to leave the bad taste of American foods to healthy Japanese foods. We have been eating healthy everyday. It is much needed as our day has been extremely active sharing Water Protectors story about human rights violations, Morton Country sheriffs department and the sheriffs, also North Dakota Governors actions. Most important is the worldwide Divestment campaigns to defund from banks human rights violations and have banks divest from companies who support human rights violations and environmental destruction across our Mother Earth. The conversations have been amazing and well received.
You might be surprised to learn that gun sales have gone down under Trump. But there is one segment of the population that is seeing a growing interest in firearms. Find out why an increasing number of African-Americans feel they need to arm themselves in my latest report for PBS NewsHour. Camera/producer Zach Fannin
The original utility of the Bitcoin block chain was that it was supposed to be anonymous, permissionless, secure and free from government prying eyes.
It has proven disastrously to be none of these things.
There is no practical commercial use for Bitcoin or other "cryptos".
The block chain is a data store similar to a traditional database and some companies are developing their own block chains for clients but they are not decentralized, permissionless and they do not use a "crypto".
But even these implementations are having a hard time finding traction because centralized database servers have decades of proven effectiveness and qualities that any organization needs for its data that a block chain simply doesn’t’ have.
Anyone with any experience in technology understands this.
Even so, it seems that "crypto-currencies" and block chains are on everyone’s lips including the EU now. I’m starting to believe more and more that this was all just a social conditioning exercise to engineer society to accept digital currencies and outlaw real money once and for all.
This won’t end well.
I made Superman 4 with Margot kidder. I was only 23 and she was fun and incredibly generous. I could tell she struggled sometimes but her heart was huge She wanted everyone to be happy. I remember her gravely voice and smile. She lit up the room with her laugh. RIP Margot Kidder.
After four long years the investigation officially says what has long been assumed. The missile launcher that shot down #MH17, killing 298 people came from a Russian military base. Now that it’s official, my question is what are the Dutch, Malaysian and Australian governments, which lost the most citizens, going to do about it?
A friend of a friend is looking for a place to stay in Kiev for the champions league final / знакомые ищут где остановится в Киеве на футбол:
“We can’t find anywhere to stay that is not 500+ Euro’s per night. Wondered if you knew anyone who could help… wanted to rent a spare room to 2 nice brits. We’d be happy to pay good money (just not crazy money) and can reciprocate with an offer of a place to stay if they ever want to come skiing in Chamonix as that is where we both live”
Message Gillon Campbell if you can help!
Fifty years ago today, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. In the years leading up to his death, he made the case that a guaranteed income was one of the most powerful and efficient ways to provide economic opportunity to all Americans. Decades later, his call for economic and racial justice still rings true. We can be the generation to eradicate poverty in America altogether. To get involved in the fight, like or follow the Economic Security Project.
Joi Ito outlines the contours of the current #ubi debate masterfully in his WIRED column this month. “Am I optimistic? No. Should we get cracking on trying everything we can, and is UBI a decent shot on goal? Yes and yes.”
